Greetings, party people.

We’re not big on birthdays. They’re a reminder that we’re getting older, wrinklier, and tragically unhip. Vimeo On Demand, on the other hand, is still a baby — it turned one this week!

Over the last year, our lil’ self-distribution platform has grown considerably. And at this year’s SXSW, we announced a new discovery destination, curated collections of independent films, and a program to help creators market their titles. Scroll on for details!

A better way to browse On Demand titles

We built a dapper destination to replace the former Vimeo On Demand homepage. It’s easier to discover awesome films and easier to keep track of your purchases. We like easy.

Welcome to the future

Welcome to the future, Tommy Tornroos.

It’s been 14 months in the making, and now it’s here: the all-new Vimeo player is lightning fast, super intelligent, and more accessible for everyone. Our team took on the daunting task of rebuilding our world-famous video player — arguably the heart of Vimeo — from scratch. Why? To make sure it’s packed with the power our creators and viewers deserve. And to make sure it’s ready for the future. Check it out.

Please join us in raising our Google glasses (No.) to a new player, a new year, and all the amazing new work that will be uploaded, watched, and shared on Vimeo in 2014.

New Player
The new player: faster, smarter, extra accessible
Our all-HTML5 player loads faster, lets you purchase Vimeo On Demand works directly from embedded videos, and — we’re extra psyched to announce this — supports captions and subtitles.

Vimeo Year in Review: 2013 was keen
Besides working on the new player, we did lots of other stuff last year. So we made a wild GIF extravaganza to celebrate the milestones Vimeo and friends reached in 2013 (our best year yet!).

Vimeo just got better

Vimeo PRO: Better than ever

Dear insatiable souls,
We think things should always be better. Each day we contend with societal conventions, family obligations, and other assorted whatnot that try to limit what we can accomplish here at the Rainbow Factory, but we’re constantly working and thinking and prancing (we’re unicorns, remember?) together to improve every little ounce of Vimeo.

That was a warm and fuzzy pair of blanket statements. Now let’s get into the cold, hard, specific, life-altering improvements:
Vimeo PRO: Powered Up
Vimeo PRO: Powered Up
Now Vimeo PRO members get more power to showcase their work: up to 1,000GB a year of storage (20GB each week), unlimited HD plays, and VIP support, all for the same ridiculously affordable price.

Get the help you need, faster
We gave our Help Center a complete refresh to make it simple and painless for anyone to get the info they need. From uploading tips to support team portraits that dance, this is one sensational center.

And let’s not forget about better things to watch:

Partly Cloudy

A cold front may be moving in, so get psyched for snow with Level 1’s follow-up to the award-winning Sunny. ‘‘No major disturbances or low-pressure fronts,’’ the filmmakers promise, ‘‘just a healthy mix of skiing, music, and personality with a low ultraviolet index.’’

When it comes to free speech, how far is too far? Wikileaks challenges The Fifth Estate and We Steal Secrets with this doc that follows journalists trying to publish secret U.S. diplomatic cables in newspapers in Central Asia.

Terms and Conditions May Apply
Admit it: you don’t read the fine print on every website. But every day, corporations learn more about you and share that info with the government. And you agreed to it. See why The San Francisco Chronicle called this the ‘‘Scariest movie I’ve seen all year.’’
See it in North America » or
See it everywhere else »
That’s it for our month of betterness. Next month, we’ll teach you how to be the bestest.
